Personal a
When the direct object of a sentence is a person, use must use the preposition a before the direct object.

| Visito el museo. | Visito a mi abuelita. |
| Veo el autobús. | Veo a la vecina. |
| Conozco la ciudad de Madrid. | Conozco a tu primo Juan. |
| Busco la biblioteca. | Busco a la profesora de español. |
| No veo nada aquí. | No veo a nadie aquí. |
Excepciones
There are some exceptions when the Personal a is not used.
After "tener":
Tengo veinte primos.
When there is doubt about the person's existence:
Busco un traductor que sepa cinco lenguas.
Direct object
A direct object receives the action of the verb directly:
I see the bus.
What is being seen? The bus, therefore it's the direct object.
